The White Stripes an hour ago on facebook:"The White Stripes pivotal record Get Behind Me Satan has never been released commercially on standard black vinyl... until now! Starting on Black Friday, the double LP will remain in print in perpetuity. Head to your local, independent record store on November 25th to pick up your copy or purchase online via thirdmanstore.com."
  • Saithinin
it is out now. According to the ThirdManStore the pressing is from United Record Pressing out of Nashville. That plant has QC issues. Looking forward to others sharing their experience of this pressing. Hope springs eternal that they might press this LP at the Detroit Third Man Records plant at some point.
  • Vital Beast
Happy happy joy joy. TMR is fashionably late as usual.
  • Nagis
They must be intentionally delaying the release of the black vinyl. The remaster has though already been cut for the 2015 rsd, so all they need to do is get it pressed which should be relatively easy...
  • Hbr
I just found myself a perfect copy for $50 so I'm pretty happy with myself. Sounds fantastic. Highly recommended
  • Bu
I'm disappointed with this release. Fantastic album, noisy/poorly pressed vinyl. For the amount being charged for this on RSD, and for it being a "First time ever on Vinyl" release, I expected so much more. The visual presentation is nice, the velvety cover is a nice touch. I've come to expect so much from TMR, but between this, the poor sound quality of the 'Lazaretto Ultra LP', and the terrible quality of The Dead Weather's 'Dodge and Burn' LP (mine was riddled with way too many loud pops despite looking very clean), I've become wary of getting any other TMR releases before researching extensively.
  • Jaiarton
It's been on vinyl before. You should see what they are getting for those!
  • Lucam
Is the black pressing ever going to be released? It was supposed to be in 2015
  • Slowly writer
I'm waiting for it to hit Amazon.ca in Canada. It's been long enough, I can wait until the end of the year now. Hopefully it actually gets released.
  • Meri
wondering if I should wait for it to be offered through TMR and/or the Vault...what are other people planning to do?
  • Pryl
I saw pre orders for this on premium vinyl sites a few weeks ago. But, as of today it's available for pre order on Amazon (US).
  • Zaryagan
Thanks. Hopefully that means others vendors will start preordering or has this preorder been around since the Red/White vinyl?Shipping is $30 to Canada, making it about the same price as some of the low end ebay offerings of the LE edition.
  • Taulkree
musicdirect is offering it for preorder on it's website as of 4-15-2016
  • Keel
This is technically a first pressing, not reissue. But considering it's not black vinyl, I'd rather it be listed this way. Patiently waiting for the first pressing of quality sounding black vinyl to be released
  • Narim
Couldn't find it anywhere else, and arrived quickly and in perfect condition. 5 stars
  • Beabandis
Any thoughts/opinions on the track switching between As Ugly As I Seem and Little Ghost? Seems trivial and silly to me.
  • Mr Freeman
MusicNerdB52 Any thoughts/opinions on the track switching between As Ugly As I Seem and Little Ghost? Seems trivial and silly to me. The track-order switch was there on the original 2005 promo vinyl too (the label photos on Discogs show it), and TMR for whatever reason chose to replicate it on this reissue, I guess to try to pass off an aura of 'authenticity'. I too think it's unnecessary. I can understand a track order change when the original artist-intended tracklisting as released on CD would be unable to yield uniform vinyl side lengths (see Chromeo's White Women and better yet Sylvian & Fripp's The First Day).... which is not the case with GBMS. The track switch throws off the side lengths by several minutes, in fact. Didn't make sense in 2005, and doesn't make sense now.
  • Hudora
I think it is terrible -totally throws off the vibe I am used to on a listen through when Little Ghost doesn't come on. Not to mention that there are a few seconds in between each track on this pressing, where as every cd version or what have you I have ever listened to, the tracks just go right into each other, and it is perfect and necessary IMO, especially on those first few. The abrupt song change has always been an important and unique little detail to me, and for it to be gone, I own this pressing and I can't even listen to it. I want to sell it and buy one of the bootlegs for a little bit more. Anyone i have talked to who owns it feels the same way and I wonder if it has anything to do with the delay in the black pressing.
  • Bloodray
Still annoyed that I had this and put it back on the shelf at RSD. Silly mistake!
  • Doomredeemer
Where's the black repress?
  • Braned
I hope so
  • Vobei
Bullmoose has the release date listed as 1/31/2016, it's ridiculous that it's taking this long.
  • Goltizuru
The one record I wanted from RSD 2015 but I never got. Shame, really. Would've looked good next to my beloved RSD 2013 copy of Elephant. With prices as they are, this will always be the one that got away. Sigh.
  • Auau
25max,that.s why I'm waiting for the non-hipster black wax press
  • MrCat
How much would you find acceptable to pay for it?
  • Tto
It's hard to believe that this record is still demanding such high dollar. Something tells me the release of the unlimited, black vinyl won't change that much at all. I felt foolish for buying it for $70 on eBay the day it came out but looks like it wasn't a terrible deal at all. (I am living in the sticks temporarily and the closest wreckastow is a long hall.
  • Wohald
shop radio cast now has pre-orders for the 2LP black vinyl version to be released next month. $29.99 currently. As promised by Third Man Records, a more widely available version is on the way.
  • Hanad
I had the one and only copy of this in my fingertips on RSD, and it was snagged from me and passed back to someone else and quickly paid for at the counter. I saw how much they were going for online and decided that was too much to pay. Surprisingly, I received a copy as a gift from a student of mine. I was looking it over, and I noticed the inscription on side D is different than listed here. Below is what mine says. The difference is subtle. Matrix / Runout (Side D): TMR-300-D SET II FIVE DOGS, TWO CATS, FOUR ROOMMATES ⓤ WG/NRP
  • Kitaxe
Answer this sellers. This was a RDS release right? So if you're selling this on here that means you went to a record store and got in line in front of white stripe fans to buy this album and resale it at a profit? I'm glad you are able to profit off of others talents.
  • Fearlessrunner
LOL Not that I've sold mine; nor have I opened it. But maybe some fans are able to check their emotions long enough to put $$$ back in the bank. Jack white already made his profit over the past eleven years. This record is an asset; the owner has every legal right to sell it for profit. The question was asked...
  • Ffrlel
It's getting a wider release later this year on plain black vinyl with the original non-holographic cover. No need to pay the RSD prices. Just be patient. If you've waited this long, then just wait a few more months for what will probably be an equally good or perhaps better, less noisy pressing.
  • Dordred
Mine came with C/D labels on both records. Was wondering if anyone got C/D labels on both records?
  • Bine
Mine did also and my friends too, so dw not the only person haha.
  • Bev
Nobody knows how many copies because it was unannounced. Unless, of course, you work at united and were part of the production. That flipper selling it for 79.50 says in his description that it was a limited 2,000... Ha. Like he knows. I have seen rumors that it was as low as 1500 to as much as 30,000 worldwide. So, your guess it's as good as mine.
  • Cordann
The store I got mine had so many copies, that they had leftovers after RSD. But then again it was a Newbury Comics and I think they ordered the maximum amount allowed for each of their locations, and then redistributed the stock based on which of their locations are more popular.
  • terostr
My store had 50 copies alone, I've heard that other stores received similar sized shipments of 40 or 50 units (this is is Canada, I can't speak for distribution elsewhere). Based on that fact and how popular White Stripes stuff is, I'd speculate that at least 15,000 copies were pressed, but more realistically I think the actual number is closer to 30,000. Although I do think that the "flipper" prices on here and elsewhere are absurd, these did retail for $50, somebody asking $70 for a record that many collectors want doesn't seem that unreasonable to me. Anything in and around $100 is yes absurd though...
  • OTANO
Anyone knows how many copied was pressed of this release?
  • FreandlyMan
Did anybody find a misprint on the spine "Get Behind Me Stan" http://imgur.com/tSZyQcq
  • Dusar
Stan is one tough dude.
  • Yanthyr
I have a copy that has the labels for side C and D on both LPs.
  • Aria
Hah, reddit's /r/vinyl forum seemed to have a laugh about it when the misprint rumour spread, but I didn't actually think it was true.
  • Frostdefender
80$ for an album who is musically average, LOL!! Hope shameless sellers never sell them! I prefer some unofficial live with better songs and crazy impro and not so bad sound!!
  • Yellow Judge
I dont know why some people downplay this album. Personally this is my favorite. Yes De Stijl and WBC are their best, but there is something special about this album. You can see Jack White feeling confined within the walls of the White Stripes, and him desperately trying to break past through. The result is some of their most enigmatic and diverse music they've produced. Talk all you want about flippers, but no need to drag the music into this hah.
  • Vertokini
Does anyone know who the other two people are on the front lenticular cover? I'm aware they are on the Blue Orchid 7" cover as well, but who are they?
  • invincible
They were supposed to be Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci, but they weren't available, so they are just some random actors. Really, that's the story from Jack himself. He said it in a chat thing with fans just recently. Who knows if he's just messing with us. I do think it's a little odd that these seemingly totally random people keep popping up on the Blue Orchid Cover and now this one.
  • Cesar
I heard this album sounded absolutely spectacular with this pressing. Lot's of outstanding reviews in the YouTube Vinyl Community.
  • Ƀ⁞₳⁞Ð Ƀ⁞Ǿ⁞Ɏ
Records sound great, if not a little noisy at times but colored vinyl never seems to be completely quiet and the aesthetic pleasure of the beautiful vivid colors and beautifully paired labels make up for that nit picky observation. Honestly I've never liked lenticular covers on anything, it just feels cheesy to me but it's not as bad as I've seen on some other releases, besides these minor indiscretions dealing with personal taste the album is great and worth owning for sure.
  • Qusserel
I suppose this is a good general guide, but I have marbled pink vinyl, clear vinyl, white vinyl, and blue/black swirl vinyl that sounds amazing. Noise free. Maybe it all depends on the manufacturer, whether or not it's virgin vinyl, etc...
  • Mash
That is because colored vinyl is a poorer sound quality than black, especially marbled or mixed color vinyl. However if your album is mastered louder than it will reduce the noise. That is why for the most part you see 180gm audiophile on black virgin vinyl. I know QRP is making some of the deadest vinyl out there today, some say comparable with the old Japanese JVC super vinyl. Below is the chart from Gotta Groove Records that explains background noise on a scale. SOUND CHARACTERISTICS OF VINYL COLORS*(Surface noise 1= quietest / 8 = noisiest)1. Standard Black4. Transparent Colors (Blue, Green, Clear, Gold [orange], Transparent Red, Coke Clear, Fluorescent Colors)6. Non-Mixed Opaque Colors (Pink, Red, Yellow, Violet, Brown)7. White7. Opaque Mix (Mixing opaque and translucent color(s) in particular; and also tend to have visible “staining” after a few hundred records, which can be seen in certain light).7-8. Random Color / Recycled Color Shades8. Split Color / Splatter Color / other hand-made colors8-10. Glow In The Dark / Glitter Records
  • RuTGamer
lol god i love record store day
  • Kikora
My record store sold out but somehow found a copy taht wasn't sold and announced it on twitter. Luckily I live down the street and snagged it! Hate seeing them on ebay for $100+ >:o
  • Fohuginn
Both records of my copy have the c/d labels.
  • Shakagul
Not normal, mine is correct. However I have seen many people with this issue with this press. Keep it, it's a one-off!
  • Kirinaya
Mine as well.
  • Nuadador
mine didnt come with a download card..
  • Irostamore
Mine came with one, but it said it was already used :/
  • LONUDOG
You can email URPressing about that and they'll send you one, go to the downloads page and follow the instructions
  • Nothing personal
Are you sure? Mine was wedged down into the binding. It was kinda hard to remove but it was in there.
  • Mr_Mix
Nor did mine.
  • Dikus
Side three on my copy is defective. There is constant static all the way through...
  • Yggfyn
The tracks have around 3 seconds of silence between each track. It's more obvious in the first three tracks. I wish it was like the CD with abrupt transitions with no gaps.
  • Briciraz
yeah that bothers the hell out of me. also the tracklisting changes
  • Usic
got mine for $45. definetly not selling, awesome record. how many were made though?
  • Dolid
I don't know how many were pressed, but it's the best selling record of RSD 2015http://www.factmag.com/2015/04/21/here-are-the-best-selling-vinyl-releases-for-record-store-day-2015/
  • Kardana
I read somewhere online that it was limited to 2000 copies. I do have a feeling though that there were far more than 2000 pressings.
  • Zugar
Way too many to justify a price north of $50..... especially considering they are going to release it again on black vinyl soon.
  • Kiutondyl
"For those unable to scoop up a copy, the album will be released with standard artwork on black vinyl later this year.Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/white-stripes-prep-get-behind-me-satan-for-first-vinyl-release-20150303#ixzz3XfnxTjFk "
  • Keramar
Got mine, queued for it the proper way. Will not be selling it, it's a work of art and sounds wonderful
  • Iarim
Good stuff. The way it should be.
  • Feri
This is shameful, but I can't say I'm in the least bit surprised. Happens every year.
  • Golden Lama
its dumb.
  • Steel_Blade
JESUS!!! Not even Record Store Day yet - and people are already selling at ridiculous prices!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!
  • Quynaus
Why are copies on sale before RSD? Thought RSD was about supporting the shops, not selling online before the day itself.
  • Jairani
RRP £29.99 do not pay more.
  • Kifer
Got mine for $55 in the US
  • Qumen
Got mine for 47€ in France which is (with current rates) 33£ or 50$.The worst are the "real shops" that sell it online at ridiculous prices.
  • Shem
you are correct it was £39.99 in the end. I queued for hours and got the last copy at my local store :)
  • Malara
It was in most stores for sale at $100-120
  • Rleyistr
Most record stores I saw it at sold it or £39,99!!
