Reviews:
  • Berkohi
This is the pressing without the hype sticker printed to the sleeve. Gatefold is kind of flimsy, but it sounds way better than that reissue from a few years prior to this. For one, you don't have to crank stereo way up to even hear the damn thing.
  • Nirad
How the hell do you tell this one & the 2005 reissue apart? Whats the easteregg?
  • Kirizan
2005 press also has barcode on back corner where barcode area on this press should be blank
  • Hellblade
I’m fairly certain that the 2005 version does not have an insert. Also it has the labels on the opposite sides compared to this. I also believe that it does not have the ”Don’t make me beg” easter egg on the back of the cover.
  • Gunos
Randomly bought this off Ebay and was pleased to figure it's this release (it's exhaustive trying to figure out what version you have.) The sound is great. Better than CD and worth seeking out.
  • ME
Have you got the eBay seller’s name? I really want a copy of this.
  • Sinredeemer
Like everyone else has said, this version is legit and sounds excellent.
  • Deeroman
Why does it have Ode to Clarissa? I thought that was just a bonus track? (Great song though)
  • Chillhunter
I bought a copy off of Amazon that says Feel Good Hit of the Summer on the spine. Its def Rated R. Does that sound right to anybody else?
  • Nettale
Yup, all copies of this pressing have "feel good hit of the summer" on the spine.
  • Azago
I just picked this up from Waterloo records in Austin, TX and the sound is legit. This is definitely the copy to own.
  • Lahorns Gods
It seems like some of the tracks have different mastering. Few tracks are a bit louder, than the others. Overall sounds really good and "dirty in queens way"
  • Moralsa
I got the ''sharp corner sticker/dont make me beg'' version. I agree with what everyone else says about the sound. It's a huge improvement over this version (https://www.discogs.com/Queens-Of-The-Stone-Age-X/release/2984283). However, I have to say this is one of the dirtiest new LPs I've ever bought. LP is covered in dust, almost impossible to remove LP from inner because too much static, scuffs and tiny hairlines all over. Even after cleaning on my RCM there is still noticeable surface noise throughout. Still, sonically its such a big improvement that I will learn to live with these imperfections until hopefully someday all the QOTSA albums will get the audiophile treatment.
  • I'm a Russian Occupant
I'm for 100% sure that I got the legit version. I can't image the Plato record stores in the Netherlands would sell a bootleg version. anyhow the vinyl version sounds great. Happy that I bought it.
  • Brightcaster
I can confirm Plato & Concerto sell bootlegs. They also sell Songs for the deaf wich has never been officially reissued.
  • Gavidor
This is the definitive medium for this album. Sound is wonderfully balanced and clear. Vocals sound incredibly organic and I've found that there's a little less sound "lost in the mix" when compared to my CD and FLAC files. Nice heavy vinyl with no surface noise and love the "Don't make me beg..." easter egg. Must own for QOTSA fans that have turntables. Play it LOUD.
  • Kajikus
This pressing sounds fantastic, and relative to the cost of other QotSA albums it's a must own. Bought it on discogs and got exactly what I expected. Sweet.
  • Scream_I LOVE YOU
I agree with what people are saying. This press is the version to own. The sound is just spectacular. If the press you are looking at it DOES NOT have the promo sticker with sharp 90 degree corners and the words "Don't make me beg, just fuck me" in small print on the back cover, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
  • from earth
The words "Don't make me beg, just fuck me" are in the middle of the back cover, just beneath the with bar to be precise.
  • Feri
I THINK this is the version I recently picked up (new) at a local store, but there is no insert included with this... Is that just a copy from a master that wasn't edited out, or is mine a different pressing?
  • Llanonte
My copy came with an insert. Maybe I just got lucky?
  • Ytli
Picked up mine yesterday, certainly has the insert for this edition with the cat#000 000-0.double check this release, which I have too, and does NOT have an insert. You'll be able to tell if it's this version you have because of the flat sound and blurry inner gatefold printing. http://www.discogs.com/Queens-Of-The-Stone-Age-X/release/2984283hope this helps
  • Lcena
Yup. This version sounds great.
  • Rainshaper
Apparently GZ Vinyl pressed 2 different reissues of this. The first reissue they pressed is the crappy sounding one that was cut somewhere else and pressed by GZ. This newer one (with sharp corners on the sticker) was cut at GZ on their DMM setup and sounds good going by all opinions I've read. As far as people's comments about a BOOTLEG version with sharp corner stickers, no insert, wrong labels on the vinyl, I'm not sure. Here's a bit of info including comments by George Z of GZ Vinyl in this thread on the Hoffman forums:http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/queens-of-the-stone-age-rated-x-2nd-pressing.214283/
  • skriper
GAH! It appears you are correct. Sorry. I was referring to the GZ pressing http://www.discogs.com/Queens-Of-The-Stone-Age-X/release/2984283That is the one that GZ has made 2 pressings of and is referred to in the hoffman forum thread I posted the link to above... I can't seem to keep the different pressings of this straight. APOLOGIES
  • Awene
moving reply to Hot Snakes comment below
  • Siatanni
The discogs entry you're commenting on has been pressed by Optimal Media in Germany, not GZ. See credits based on the matrix in the dead wax. I own a copy myself and can confirm the discogs data here is correct. It does not match with the matrix given in the posting on that forum.
  • Jesmi
got my first copy around 1 year ago
  • Lightseeker
Any idea when it was released?
  • Wenaiand
Not owning the original... I would have to say this is an awesome press. If your wondering which version to get I would have to say this one.
  • Nto
It has the don't make me beg just fuck me text on the back
  • Agantrius
Check the "notes" section of the submission. Some indicators there. Sharp corners on the hype sticker is the best indicator.
  • Nuadora
How do you differenciate this version from the crappy one?
  • Abandoned Electrical
I agree this is a good pressing. Ordered it from reputable internet seller as well.
  • Manarius
Many fans of this album know of the abysmal pressing of this that's been widely available. I submitted this entry on Discogs because I had only heard rumors of a new and better pressing. I took a chance and ordered from a high traffic internet seller, which would have whatever is now the most readily available merchandise I would imagine. I was so surprised at the sound quality. The mastering is fantastic. The pressing is quiet. It's a shame that more people only know the latest vinyl pressing of this album is garbage and have moved on. I wish I had any indication of pressing numbers, but if you're thinking of getting a copy don't hesitate to snatch this one up.
  • X-MEN
Someone replied on another pressing, that the possible reason for the lower volume level is that it was all pressed on to a single LP, thus decreasing the amount of space available for even better quality. I thought it might have seemed low too, but I'm not 100% it's THAT much quieter than most of my other records, as of yet anyway. I'll have to compare, but it's got great sound even if it is low in volume.
  • Runehammer
This version sounds fantastic!
