Such a classic minimal techno ! Maurizio remix is better
  • Vetalol
Anyone else had a copy from this original release where the hole is on centre, but one side is pressed off-centre? I just received one where Side B plays fine but Side A sways widely and has strong 'wow' to the sounds. Unlistenable. I want to be able to play both, so hole carving not an attractive option :-(
  • Cozius
My copy is also as you describe. Maurizio side "wow"ing and CC side fine.
  • Inth
My copy is brown when you hold it against the light

I agree with your point of view. It's a classic! Both mixes are great. The Carl Craig mix is my favourite.A timeless track and so laid-back...
  • Kaghma
Both mixes are pretty different but both are amazing in their own ways.

Stunning record !!
  • Amerikan_Volga
one of the best records i own

Maurizio mix is one of the best techno tracks of all time, a true masterpiece! Some weirdness to mention is that in the middle of the track it suddenly fades out, and then some very different track comes in. This is so Berlin underground stuff. If you don't know the feeling, visit their record shop in Kreuzberg and listen to this record after it (if you don't have it yet, buy it there..). Then you'll understand...
  • Erthai
that bit is another part that makes this version magical. 20+ years of loving this one.
  • INvait
Could probably listen to this on an endless loop. Not so keen on the Carl Craig mix tho.
  • Detenta
I've been listening to this for over a decade(tresor compilation 3) and still my favourite techno track of all time . Every element is Perfectly sculpted and the mix is flawless and simply beautiful. BUT.. I don't like the Carl Craig remix, tried it loud, tried it high but it just doesn't work for me. But in fairness anything is going to be pale in comparison to such a masterpiece.
  • Danrad
simply out of this world!
  • Fek
What can you say here...Carl Craig is a genius...This remix is a true masterpiece. The mood, the depth, the energy...

Carl Craig remix is pretty much it for me ... brings me to tears
  • Fecage
This is a true diamond...
  • Gogal
This is a bad-ass record. I'll never get rid of it. Nuff said.

According to me "The Domina Maurizio mix" is totally incredible.I do not have enough words to describe the beauty of this track. A work of art who should be forever reside in the pantheon of music of the late twentieth century. Just perfect !
  • Shou
one of my favorite basic channel tracks , unfortunately my copy is cut off centre that side(gets more wonky as the track goes on) . first heard the carl craig mix on slam's essential mix .. classic

I had heard Carl Craig's remix back in the mid-90's but only recently heard the Maurizio original when I acquired a recent repress. WOW! I love the original version even more! I'd always liked Craig's remix (I adore most of his remix work), but the original version totally caught me off-guard and had me dancing all around my kitchen, and I was unprepared for the lady friend I was supposed to be making dinner for...

On his remix Carl used the vocals from the original "Die Dominas" record produced by Manuel Göttsching in November 1980 as a studio session with friends Rosi & Claudia Skoda. The formula is typical for Carl, but he gives one of his best remixes to date. Vocals, drums and flutes in combination gives that typical dreamy feel only Detroit Techno embraces. Maurizio's Mix is crisp, minimal Basic Channel sounds handcrafted to perfection. The monotony is arranged in the absolute right way which generates a hypnotic state and should go on for days.
  • Bloodray
Carl Craig didn't exactly made what we use to call a "remix" here. His track is very far away from the original, notably by this female voice sample looping "Domina". But as I know both tracks for years now, I've made my mind and I think that Carl made this loop inspired by the bass line of the original track. Try to mix both sides together, and something will happen...
  • Naktilar
A better slice of vinyl you're unlikely to come by. Maurizio's mix is classic deep techno, and Carl Craig's mix is...well, Carl Craig! A typically perfect balance of lush pads, driving kick drums an awesome dubbed-out bassline and clickety-clack warped hats riding on top. The guy's production is second to none. Anyone into any sort of deep electronic music has gotta own this.

Lush deep house on the Carl Craig side, the kind of track that makes you feel like you live in a perfect world for the duration. Whoever says that making music with just machines is soulless, they need to listen to this. Maurizio's mix is also of exceptional quality, more minimal with a surprising change around two thirds of the way through; when mixed with Romanthony - The Wanderer you can create something truly emotional and greater than the sum of the constituent parts. Try it, bring it in at the right place and both tracks build at the same time with awe inspiring results. Can not recommend enough.
